Meet Gaya
My work explores the emotive capacity of art, focusing less on literal subject matter and more on the atmosphere created through colour, texture, depth and light. Each piece is an invitation into a felt experience - one of stillness, awe, joy and contemplation.
Born into a family of creatives, my connection to the arts was nurtured from an early age. I also had the privilege of practising meditation within the Theravada Buddhist tradition since childhood. Drawing from deep meditative insight and lived experience, my practice exists at the intersection of art and inner discovery, seeking to create works that bring a sense of presence, tranquillity and emotional resonance into the spaces they inhabit.
Working with oil, acrylic, gold leaf, spray paint and ink, I combine traditional and contemporary techniques, including methods developed through my own experimentation. Through layered surfaces and luminous palettes, I explore the relationship between colour, form, space and perception, creating works that invite contemplation and quiet connection.
Meditation remains central to my creative process, informing works that encourage pause in an increasingly fast-moving world. At the heart of my practice is a desire to create art that not only transforms a space aesthetically, but also evokes a deeper sense of peace and presence within the viewer.
I am honoured to have received numerous awards for my artworks. Most of all, I am deeply grateful for the connection shared with collectors like you who have welcomed my work into their lives and homes. May these works become part of your everyday moments of reflection, beauty and stillness.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
— Marcel Proust
